Eden Prairie Named #3 Best Place to Live in America
In years past, Eden Prairie has often found itself in the upper echelons of American cities, and 2012 has proven to be no exception. In Money Magazine’s September issue, Eden Prairie was named the #3 Best Place to Live in America, and #1 best place to live in Minnesota in its annual index of American towns and cities.
“After being named the #1 Best Place to Live in America in 2010, we’re delighted the great city of Carmel, Indiana now has the opportunity to shine in the spotlight where we’ve stood for two years,” Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens said in a press release Monday.
Money Magazine’s list of best places to live is based on numerous factors, including quality of life, taxes, job growth, median family income, and home prices. Consistently high scores in these categories have elevated Eden Prairie to the top of the index. Local Fortune 500 companies such as Supervalue and C.H. Robinson have contributed to the strong local job market and low unemployment rate, and the Eden Prairie school district has made the city one of the most desirable places in the state for families to raise their children.
That, with its beautiful lakes and parks, the Eden Prairie Center, and the upcoming Southwest Corridor Lightrail line, ensures that Eden Prairie will top the list of cities for years to come.
