Apartment List Ranks Eden Prairie in Top 5 MN Cities for Families
Eden Prairie has gotten some more recognition for its family-friendly atmosphere from Apartment List. After ranking No. 22 on the online rental marketplace’s list for the top 100 family friendly cities in the nation, the city has no been ranked at No. 2 in the state for the same category.
The rankings for both lists were based on safety, housing cost (based on the rental rate of a two-bedroom apartment), school quality and child friendliness. The apartment company used FBI crime statistics as well as Department of Education data to complete its list.
Here’s what Apartment List had to say about Eden Prairie:
“This Minneapolis suburb ranked No. 2 in Minnesota and No. 22 on our nationwide list of family-friendly cities. More than a quarter of its 62,603 residents are under 18, and more than 90% of those young people are expected to graduate from high school. Though a 2 bedroom home in Eden Prairie averages 30 percent above national figures, the availability of high-paying jobs in the area more than makes up that gap, with rent accounting for just 15.9% of average annual incomes. Factor in low crime rates, and it’s clear why Eden Prairie is the second best city for families in Minnesota.”
Lakeville came in at No. 1 on the list, with Minnetonka, Rochester and Maple Grove coming in the third, fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
