Black Friday Turned Thanksgiving Thursday in Eden Prairie

Although most of us will be on the couch sleeping, some of us will be running to our favorite stores in Eden Prairie. Yes – it seems wrong to be shopping on a holiday, but Christmas seems to come faster each year. More sales equals more money on the business side of things. If you are one of the ambitious this holiday season, there are several stores opening Thanksgiving night!

Macy’s, is in fact, a department store household name that we know and love. This year they will be gearing up for their Black Friday sale at 8 p,m. turkey day! Boasting big sales as soon as the doors open there is sure to be a fantastic crowd . . . if you can roll yourself over there! It is, in fact, the first time in their 155-year run that Macy’s has agreed to opening early. Does it ruin the holiday? Some beg to differ.

After years of conflict, Macy’s has always been against working on such a widely celebrated day. Now they say that they are giving employees a chance to work or volunteer holiday hours. Walmart and Toys’R’Us will be open as well. K-marts are opening their doors as early as 6 p.m. Thanksgiving night also!

On the other hand, Costco and Nordstrom are waiting. It is ultimately up to the consumer if these hours will succeed or not. If you are ready to go after a hefty meal and family time, then go forth and shop!
