The City of Eden Prairie’s Human Rights and Diversity Commission is now accepting nominations for the annual Human Rights Awards! This award recognizes inspiring efforts that work to promote human rights and diversity, and to create an inclusive community spirit. Awards are given to an outstanding individual, a non-profit organization and a business.This year’s award recipients will be selected by the Human Rights and Diversity Commission in March, with an award presentation and recognition at a City Council meeting later in the spring.So if you know of a deserving person, non-profit organization or business you are encouraged and invited to pick up a nomination packet at the Eden Prairie City Center or click here to download the form
The deadline for nominations, with supporting materials, is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013.

The Human Rights and Diversity Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters of diversity, civil and human rights, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Commission has been involved in such important social issues as identifying needs of the immigrant population and finding solutions to “bullying” in local schools.
If you are ever interested in taking part in a Human Rights and Diversity Commission meeting, feel free to come by! Their meetings take place the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. on the lower level of Eden Prairie Center mall.
