The Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie, MN
Did you know that Eden Prairie has its own airport? The Flying Cloud Airport may not be the largest in the state, but it is quite functional in its goal of serving thousands upon thousands of travelers every month.
The Flying Cloud Airport was built in 1941. It currently has three runways and covers an area of approximately 543 acres.
To better accommodate the area, an expansion took place in 2010 which included:
– Extended the south parallel runway to 5,000 feet
– Extended the north parallel runway to 3,900 feet
– New south building area
– Added airport lighting and other visual aids
This is not a busy airport, but it does see its fair share of flights every year. For example, in 2010 there were roughly 100,000 take-offs and landings.
